Alexander L. Williams’ practice at Galloway includes the representation of multinational shipping companies, employers, underwriters, insurers, and businesses in legal disputes from inception through conclusion. This includes litigating maritime personal injury, pollution, cargo damage, and contract disputes. Alex has experience with on-site personal injury and cargo damage investigations. He regularly handles complex regulatory compliance issues where he is responsible for liaising with regulatory agencies such as the United States Coast Guard, Customs and Border Protections, the Federal Maritime Commission, and the Department of Commerce on behalf of clients to minimize the impact of agency action on business operations and to mitigate potential liability. Alex’s practice also includes general insurance defense ranging from premises liability claims to complex marine protection and indemnity coverage disputes.

Alex spent the formative years of his childhood in the Republic of Singapore and the People’s Republic of China. Prior to joining Galloway, Alex worked in Germany for a multi-national shipping company in its in-house legal department. This time overseas provided him with a unique opportunity to gain valuable commercial experience and to foster an understanding of the complex issues that are present in law and business on a global scale. These experiences abroad also helped Alex understand that the practice of law is, at its core, a service industry, centered around people and companies seeking advice, guidance, and results.

Alex’s ultimate goal is to deliver practical, effective, and results-oriented advice. To do so, he strives to collaborate with his clients to develop an approach that encompasses each client’s risk tolerance, commercial realities, and forward-thinking strategic goals.
